The Annapurna Nar Phu Valley trek is an enchanting journey through the remote Nar Phu Valley, situated north of Annapurna. This less-traveled route unveils medieval Tibetan culture, dramatic mountain landscapes, and pristine alpine beauty. The newly opened trekking destination offers high peaks, glaciers, hidden villages, canyons, forests, unique rock formations, monasteries, and Himalayan traditions.

 

Passing through the Chorten Gate marks the entry to the Annapurna Nar Phu Valley. Amid Himalayan pine forests, a stone-built Tibetan village awaits on a high plateau. Beyond the allure of ancient monasteries and majestic Annapurna peaks, the journey's cultural and natural diversity shines.

 

The Nar Phu Valley trek requires a special permit obtained through a registered Nepal trekking operator and a minimum of two participants. Starting with a 7-8 hour drive from Kathmandu, the trek follows the Annapurna Circuit route to Koto, then ascends the breathtaking Nar Phu Valley.

Day 1: Arrival and Welcome to Kathmandu

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, our agent will warmly receive you and escort you to a comfortable 3-star hotel. After settling in, you'll be treated to a delightful dinner at the hotel. You can take a leisurely stroll around the vibrant Thamel area, known for its bustling markets, or enjoy the amenities and services offered by the hotel.

 

Day 2: Journey to Besisahar and Beyond

Kathmandu to Today, embark on a scenic journey as we drive for approximately 5 hours to reach Besisahar. From there, we continue our adventure in a local jeep that takes us to Sange. Along the way, immerse yourself in the authentic rural lives of the local villagers, witnessing their daily activities and surroundings.

 

Day 3: Trek to Dharapani

After a hearty breakfast, begin your trekking expedition. Today's path leads you on a 6-hour journey to Dharapani (1960m). Traverse a gently sloping trail enveloped by serene oak trees. The gradual ascent and well-maintained path make for a pleasant day of trekking.

 

Day 4: Enchanting Path to Koto

Lace up your hiking boots for a 7-hour trek to Koto (2610m). Wander through enchanting apple orchards and quaint villages, all while being treated to breathtaking vistas of the Manaslu, Hiunchuli, Annapurna-2, and Lamjung peaks. The picturesque landscapes and charming settlements add to the allure of this day's journey.

 

Day 5: Entering the Nar Phu Valley

Embarking from Koto after breakfast, your trail leads you into the captivating Nar Phu Valley. As you make your way through pine trees and vibrant Rhododendron flowers, you'll notice the trail's gradual shift. Follow alongside the meandering Seti Khola riverbank, with the mesmerizing backdrop of Annapurna II (7937m) and Lamjung Himal (6983m). The day culminates in Meta, where you'll spend the night amid stunning mountain views.

 

Day 6: Exploring Phu Gaon

The day's adventure takes you from Meta to Phu Gaon, also known as Phu Village. Descend to the picturesque village of Kyang, crossing suspension bridges over crystal-clear rivers. The rocky trail along the Phu River guides you to Phu Gaon, offering an authentic glimpse into the life and culture of the region. Witness the influence of Tibetan Buddhism as you enter the traditional village through the ruins of an ancient fort.

 

Day 7: Crossing High Passes to Nar

Prepare for an exhilarating journey from Phu to Nar (4130m). Following an early breakfast, navigate two high passes – Phu Pass (5050m) and Nar Pass (5400m) – adding a challenging yet rewarding dimension to your trek. Cross streams and suspension bridges, eventually arriving at Mahendra Bridge. The trail leads you to Nar, where mud houses stand against the backdrop of the majestic Kanguru (6981m) and Nemjung (7140m) peaks.

 

Day 8: Acclimatization and Cultural Discovery

Enjoy a well-deserved day of rest and altitude adaptation in Nar. Explore the local surroundings, delve into the unique culture of the area, and soak up the serene mountain ambiance.

 

Day 9: Trekking to Ngwal

Embark on the trail to Ngwal. The trek leads you to Kang La Pass (5320m), where panoramic views of the Annapurna Range and Kangla Himal Range await. Descend through a grassy path, passing monasteries en route to Ngwal village, where you'll spend the night.

 

Day 10: Journey to Manang

As you make your way to Manang, the trail takes you past monasteries and the ancient Braga village. Discover the historic Braga Gompa and the serene Boozo Gompa near the Marsayangdi River. Pass through Gangapurna Lake before reaching Manang, where the magnificent Annapurna and Gangapurna peaks grace your journey.

 

Day 11: Trekking to Yak Kharka

Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka (4110m), traversing through villages and meadows. The trail leads you to Tengi village, Ghunsa, and finally Yak Kharka. Relish the beauty of lush meadows and the towering peaks surrounding you.

 

Day 12: Ascending to Thorang Phedi

Trek from Yak Kharka to Thorang Phedi (4600m). Enjoy a 3-4-hour trek through expansive meadows, with stunning peaks and glaciers as your companions. Reach Thorang Phedi, the base of the challenging Thorang La Pass (5416m), where Thorang Peak (6144m) beckons.

 

Day 13: Conquering Thorang La Pass

Conquer the Thorang La Pass and continue to Jomsom via Muktinath. Embark on a rewarding 8-hour trek to Muktinath, taking in the sights and sounds of this sacred destination for both Buddhists and Hindus. Enjoy a local jeep ride to Jomsom, where you'll rest for the night.

 

Day 14: Flight to Pokhara and Sightseeing

Embark on a 30-minute early morning flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. Upon landing, transfer to your hotel and set out for a day of sightseeing. Explore the beautiful lakeside area and soak in the distant mountain views that grace the horizon.

 

Day 15: Flight to Kathmandu and Farewell

After a delicious breakfast, transfer to Pokhara's domestic airport for a flight to Kathmandu. Our team will assist you with your departure from there, ensuring your journey concludes smoothly.
